Baoding |
Moving on to Baoding, we were in an ex-warzone again, but this time war with the Japanese. It's not surprising there are so many war "memorials" given that China has been fighting one war another for almost all its history. This particular "memorial" was an opening up of tunnels used to resist the enemy and would have been boring if we had not met some retired soldiers who dressed up as resistance fighters as part of a reunion weekend. The first picture reads, "Go away please, Japanese soldiers", or stronger words to that effect.
